Job Title: Research Assistant (1 position)

Organization: Cognitive Aging Laboratory, Ryerson University Work schedule: 11 hours/week, from Sep. 8, 2020 – Apr. 9, 2021 Hour rate: $15/hour

Eligibility criteria: Full-time Ryerson students in an undergraduate/graduate program of study and taking at least 60% (3 courses) of a full course load each semester. A minimum CGPA of

2.00 with clear academic standing on their last grade report (waived for first year student).

Position description: The successful RA candidate will assist the supervising faculty member to operate a research project that examines the psychological impacts of the COVID-19 on Chinese immigrant population. The specific research duties include preparing testing materials, conducting Zoom interview, coding and entering data. The specific community engagement duties include communicating and coordinating with the local communities to plan specific events (e.g., designing event poster, distributing the poster, promoting the events, inviting speakers, moderating the events, training the involved volunteers etc.) to best promote the psychosocial health of the Chinese immigrants during the COVID-19 pandemic. The RA will report directly to the Lab Director. The RA will have opportunities to connect with other collaborative researchers in the field. If appropriate, the RA will be involved in conference presentations and manuscript preparation based on the collected data. As a crucial part of the training, the RA will attend our regular project or laboratory meetings. This position would be a good fit for a student in Psychology, Sociology, Nursing or other Health-related programs.

Technical or Software Knowledge Required: This job involves minimal requirements on technical and software knowledge. The candidate should be experienced with Microsoft Office (e.g., Words and Excel) and know how to use Google Form and Zoom. Some knowledge with Google form and SPSS will be a plus, but not mandatory. Training will be provided if needed.
