Centre for New Immigrant Well-Being (CNIW) and CNIW Foundation Hold Joint Annual Board Meeting and Celebrate Success

On December 17, Centre for New Immigrant Well-Being (CNIW) and the CNIW Foundation convened for a joint meeting in Markham, Ontario. Dr. Peter Wang (王培忠,President of CNIW) presented a summary of CNIW's activities and achievements over the past year, and engaged in discussions about future initiatives with the board directors and staff. Dr. Xiao Han, the Executive Director of CNIW, and Ms. Ying Cao, the Managing Director of the CNIW Foundation, each presented their respective work reports to the board directors. Highlighted below are some key achievements and activities of CNIW from the past year.
Dr. Lixia Yang (杨丽霞,CNIW, vice president, Professor) , Dr. Renke LI (李仁科,Senior Scientist and Professor, ), Dr. Jim Hu (Hospital for Sick Children, Senior Scientist and Professor), Dr. Heyu Ni (倪合宇,St. Michaels Hospital and professor, ), Dr. Yuan Zhou (周源,BMDAC Deputy President, ) each shared their reflections on CNIW's achievements over the past year and extended their best wishes for the future.
Successfully hosted the third CNIW annual conference at Hart House, University of Toronto

Organized the CNIW InsureLine Brokers (Smart) 思达保险 Charity Golf Tournament.
Launched the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) training program and competed in the HOSA competition.
In an effort to spread knowledge, Dr. Wang, Dr. Yang, and other CNIW board members were interviewed by various media outlets, including CBC Radio International, OMNI TV, and Voice of America, discussing a range of health-related topics.
Completed several government-sponsored projects, such as the PHAC vaccine initiative and the Ontario New Horizon projects.
Collaborated with university scholars, presenting research findings at several national and international conferences, and contributed to multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Allyson Wu (centre) joined the Duke of Edinburgh International Award program when she was 14. Under the guidance from CNIW and Mentor Ms. Ying (left). She has finally achieved the Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze, Silver, and Gold award a remarkable accomplishment that demonstrated
commitment, perseverance, and personal growth. This prestigious award recognizes young people who have excelled in a range of
areas including physical fitness, community services, skill development, and adventurous expeditions.
