Dr. Maggie Han (韩笑), Executive Director
Dr. Maggie Han is a distinguished media and community leader with a Ph.D. and over a decade of experience in public relations, broadcasting, and non-profit leadership. As a Course Lecturer at the University of Toronto, she teaches FOR303: Human Dimension of Global Forests, while also hosting a popular daily show on Singtao A1 Radio Station (AM1540). Her career spans numerous influential roles, including Executive Director of the Center for New Immigrants Well-being, Outreach Director for Canada Universal Media Association, and Vice President of the Canada-China Economic Trade & Culture Exchange Promotion Alliance.
Dr. Han is deeply committed to volunteerism and community service, recognized by Ontario's Five-year Volunteer Awards (2023, 2024) and the prestigious Canadian Platinum Jubilee Pin (2023) for her significant contributions. She is also the Co-founder, Chief Editor, and Journalist of Hotspotnews.ca, where her expertise in crafting culturally sensitive messaging has made a meaningful impact on Chinese immigrant women, particularly in raising awareness about breast cancer disparities and health program engagement.
Her extensive leadership includes serving as an Executive Board Member of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), where she held the position of Vice President for the Natural Science and Education Committee (2020-2024). Dr. Han also leads the North America Mobile Photography Association as its President, combining her passion for the arts with her dedication to fostering community resilience and empathy.
