Join Us to Retrace Dr. Bethune’s Route in Qinghai, China – September 2024

The Bethune Bai Qiuen Canadian Alliance (BBCA), a non-political, non-religious, and non-partisan organization, is once again inviting volunteers to join the poignant journey of retracing Dr. Norman Bethune’s steps in China. This year, the journey will take us to Qinghai Province from September 10 to September 19, 2024.

Our adventure starts with all members gathering in Xining, the capital of Qinghai, on September 9th, 2024, following departures from Canada and other countries on September 8th. The ten-day expedition will immerse participants in a mix of medical volunteer work, cultural exchanges, and educational initiatives.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to engage in various activities, including visiting local hospitals, donating to village schools and clinics, providing free medical consultations, and participating in an exchange program to teach local doctors. These efforts are aimed at fostering goodwill and improving healthcare in remote areas.

In addition to the enriching volunteer work, participants will enjoy exploring the rich cultural heritage and breathtaking landscapes of Qinghai, home to various ethnic minorities and a testament to China’s diverse cultural tapestry.

The journey doesn’t end in Qinghai; participants can extend their stay for a privately organized tour of Tibet from September 19 to 26, 2024, offering an even deeper dive into the region’s unique culture and history.

Interested individuals are encouraged to mark their calendars, plan their trips, and book their flights as soon as possible. Detailed itineraries and further information will be provided in collaboration with the Friendship Association of China and Qinghai.

Join us in making a difference while experiencing the extraordinary life and legacy of Dr. Bethune. Your participation will not only honor his contributions but also strengthen the bond between Canada and China through compassionate action.
