Recruitment for Canadian Chinese Cancer Patients and Their Families – Share Your Experience and Contribute to Cancer Research
In Canada, Chinese cancer patients and their families may face multiple barriers during treatment and recovery, such as language, cultural, and information accessibility issues. These barriers can negatively affect patients' medical experiences and potentially impact treatment outcomes and recovery processes.
Currently, the CNIW is assisting several Chinese scholars in applying for various cancer-related research grants. The aim of these studies is to identify specific barriers faced by Chinese cancer patients in Canada, improve their seeking for support experiences, and reduce the obstacles encountered during treatment and recovery, thereby enhancing the cancer prognosis and quality of life for cancer patients. Therefore, we are seeking up to 8 Canadian cancer patients or their family members to join our research team and share their valuable experiences from their perspectives.
The initial participation will be in the form of a focus group interview. Each participant will receive a compensation of 80 CAD. The interview will be conducted online and will be about 1.5 hours.
Additionally, you will receive the following benefits:
- Become a part of the research team as a patient representative, participate in the entire research process, and keep up with the latest progress and final results of the research;
- Attend our regularly organized special public lectures, where clinical physicians will share cancer knowledge and health management experiences;
- Join a mutual aid organization community to support other patients.

Improving the medical experience of Chinese cancer patients is a long-term and challenging task. Your attention and support are our driving force. We look forward to your participation and welcome you to share this information!
