Sidong Gu graduated from Tianjin Medical University in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in public health administration. In the same year, he was admitted to the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) as a postgraduate student in marketing. In 2016, he received a Master’s degree in Marketing. He continued his study in Australia, at Top Education Institute, where he obtained the Master of Marketing and Public Relations in 2017.
Gu Sidong is currently working at PharmEng Technology in Canada as the marketing coordinator for the Asian market in the financial department. His past roles include a medical associate in Tianjin Cansino Biology Co., Ltd. and an intern in marketing department of Sanofi Beijing headquarters. His previous experiences also involve working in Glover Chemist, Newstars Education and Migration, in Australia, and Novartis Tianjin office.
In 2013, Sidong Gu published an essay Thinking and Countermeasures of Health Promotion as the New Curriculum in Higher Education in Chinese Health Education, a national science and technology journal. In 2017, his article Case Study on the Learning Model for a Multinational Pharmaceutical Company was published in Pharmaceutical Project Management, a Canadian magazine.
He has solid knowledge and skills in the areas of management, marketing, public health, social medicine, etc. At the same time, he has a comprehensive knowledge of natural science, humanities and social sciences. His educational background in both public health and marketing allows him to have unique insights in both areas.
Sidong Gu is also keen on community involvement. Besides being the Board Director and Associate Editor of Centre for New Immigrant Well-Being, he also holds the position of Vice President of Canada Alumni Association of Tianjin Medical University.
During the 9th University Sports Games of PRC, he published many reports in the Journal of the Games and on the campus website, and received an interview as a volunteer star from a local newspaper. As a recognition of his outstanding contributions during the Games, he received the “The Outstanding Award” from the City of Tianjin.
In his spare time, he is involved in Toronto CROSS TALK Club as a cross talk actor, and used to be a crosstalk actor of Sydney HE YI SHE. He has also been playing badminton for many years, and has participated in a number of badminton games.
