Theresa Vo-Centre for New Immigrant Well-Being (CNIW)

Theresa is a second-year PhD student in the Division of Population Health and Applied Health
Research at Memorial University. Her research focuses on health literacy, implementation
science, and the influence of reimbursement policies on oncology care. With a strong academic
record and extensive extracurricular involvement, she has published research as the first author
on topics including the effects of health policy on health outcomes, telehealth, and immigrant
health. Under the supervision of Prof. Peter Wang, Theresa’s current project examines health
system literacy and patient navigation programs aimed at improving adherence to cancer
screenings.
Additionally, Theresa is a trainee in the Cancer Research Training Program (CRTP) at the
Beatrice Hunter Research Institute. She previously contributed to the Center for New Immigrant
Well-Being (CNIW) during a summer placement, where she actively engaged in academic
initiatives. Currently, Theresa leads the St. John’s Volunteer Hub for Breast Cancer Canada,
coordinating efforts to support breast cancer research and assist women affected by breast cancer
