Academic and Career Background

Yiran completed her bachelor’s degree in Applied Human Nutrition at University of Guelph. She then obtained Master of Applied Nutrition at the University of Guelph and Master of Public Health at the University of Toronto. 

Yiran has been working as a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator with indigenous populations in Northern Ontario. She’s specialized in diabetes and pediatrics care. 

Research Interest

Yiran is responsible for the development and validation of a dietary assessment tool for her master’s degree. She is also interested in advancing chronic disease management of immigrants and aboriginal populations. 

Community Involvement

Yiran was the President of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association at the University of Guelph during the year 2015-2016. She also acted as the General Director at her universities. 

She has been traveling to remote First Nations regularly and providing in-community health care services. 

Achievements

She received the Certificate of Achievement awarded by the Consulate General of the Republic of China in Toronto and other four scholarships and awards. 

Hobbies

Yiran loves reading, watching movies and playing with her dog during her spare time.
